About

Welcome! I’m an Assistant Professor of English at Dalhousie University in Halifax/Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki: the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaw people. I was previously a Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) Postdoctoral Fellow for the Critical Digital Humanities Initiative (CDHI) at the Jackman Humanities Institute, University of Toronto. I use the pronouns he/him/his.

My research and teaching focus on early modern English drama, literature, and culture (ca. 1550-1700 CE). I’m also interested in book history, digital humanities, the history of political thought, law and literature, performance studies, and gender and sexuality studies. I’ve written on some of these topics for the journals English Literary Renaissance, Studies in Philology, Eighteenth-Century Studies, Milton Studies, The Shakespearean International Yearbook, and Early Theatre. A full list of publications and awards can be found in my CV.

For news on my recent and upcoming talks (including audio recordings), see Presentations; visit my Teaching page for information on my courses. I welcome inquiries regarding MA/PhD supervision on topics related to the above research interests, and I’m especially invested in supporting the scholarship of working-class, first-generation, and/or low-income students. Please contact me via email with any questions!
